Rachel: Well, at least you make each other laugh.	レイチェル：程度の低いギャグね。

Rachel: Well, I haven't seen him since that night that he told me how he y'know… I don't know, I think he's avoiding me. Why is that bagel on the floor?	レイチェル：ジョーイと会ってないのよ。あの夜、ジョーイが…、あれ以来ね。分からないけど、何か避けられてるみたいなんだ。ん、何でベーグルが床に落ちてるの？
Monica: We were playing a game.	モニカ：ゲームしてたのよ。

Ross: Great! Great. Then I must've left it at Mona's. I knew it!	ロス：やれやれだぜ！　ってことはモナのうちに忘れてきたんだ。やっぱりそうか！

Ross: I don't know. I mean I-I guess I could. It's just that we didn't really end things such good terms. And if I go over there I'd be ignoring the one thing she asked me to do when we broke up, jump up my own ass and die. Phoebe: (noticing a guy sitting by the green post looking at her) Oh wait a second you guys…for the last couple weeks I've been that guy everywhere I go. We take the same bus. We go to the same bookstore, the same dry cleaners; maybe he's the tea guy. Rachel: Hi!	レイチェル：おす！

(He slowly walks to the other side of the couch and sits down at the table, an awkward silence follows.)	ジョーイはソファーの逆側に回る。なんともいえない空気に包まれる。
Rachel: Hi.	レイチェル：どうも。

[Scene: Monica and Chandler's, Chandler is cooking as Rachel paces nervously.]	[モニカとチャンドラーのアパート。チャンドラーは料理中。レイチェルはナーバスにうろついている。]
Rachel: So I thought Joey and I would be okay once we hung out, but it's not even like we know how to be with each other anymore.	レイチェル：ジョーイと会えば別に大丈夫だと思ってけど、もう一緒にいるだけでも大変よ。
Chandler: I know it's tough now, but things will get better.	チャンドラー：あぁ、大変だとは思うが、そのうち元に戻るさ。
Rachel: How do you know that? What if it just gets worse and worse and worse, to the point where we can't even be in the same room with each other?!	レイチェル：何でそんなこと分かるのよ？　どんどん状況が悪くなっちゃって、一緒にいられなくなっちゃったらどうするのよ！？

Chandler: Let's just say if I can't find the right CD case I just put it in the nearest one.	チャンドラー：ケースが見つかんなかったら、そこら辺のケースに適当に入れてるから。

Joey: (entering) Hey!	ジョーイ：（入室）　おす！
Rachel: Hi.	レイチェル：やぁ。
Monica: Uh I really don't know what to tell you Rach, I really don't. I mean, maybe Joey can help you out with your, with your big work problem.	モニカ：レイチェル、私は分からないわ。ほんとに難しい問題よ。きっとジョーイならその職場の問題解決してくれるんじゃない？
Rachel: What?	レイチェル：え？
Monica: Yeah Joey she's…Rachel's got this really big work problem, and it is a head scratcher. Wow! (To Chandler) Y'know what, if we're gonna make dinner we're gonna have to leave. Yeah. Rachel: Yeah, No wait! Joey no wait it is. It's something. It's-it's umm…it's my boss.	レイチェル：あ、ちょっと待って。ジョーイ、悩みあるのよ。その…、私の上司なんだけど…。
Joey: Yeah?	ジョーイ：うん。
Rachel: Yeah, and umm my baby.	レイチェル：うん、あと私の赤ちゃん…。
Joey: Yeah?	ジョーイ：うん。
Rachel: My boss wants to buy my baby!	レイチェル：上司が赤ちゃん買いたいって言うの！
Joey: What?! Oh my-oh my God!	ジョーイ：何！？　まじかよ！
Rachel: I know I told you, it's a really big problem.	レイチェル：だから重大な悩みだって言ったでしょ！

Rachel: Well I'll tell ya! (Pause) See uh my-my boss and his wife, They-they can't have children. So umm, and that we were at the Christmas party, and he got drunk, and he said to me, "Rachel, I want to buy your baby."	レイチェル：うん。言うわよ！　（間）　上司と奥さんが子供できないんだって…、だからさ…。クリスマスパーティーで酔っ払った上司が、言ったのよ。"レイチェル、君の赤ちゃん売ってくれ！"って。
Joey: Man! When you said it was a problem about your boss and the baby I figured it was something about maternity leave.	ジョーイ：まじかよ！　上司と赤ちゃんの悩みって言ったから、妊娠休暇のことかと思ったよ。
Rachel: Ohh! Yeah! (Pause) Yeah that-that would've been a much simpler problem.	レイチェル：あぁ！　そうねぇ！　（間）　そのほうがずっと軽い悩みだわ。
[Scene: A newsstand, Phoebe is looking at a magazine as the guy from before walks by and picks up a newspaper.]	[新聞売り場。フィービーが雑誌を読んでいると、先ほどの男がやってきて、新聞を手に取る。]
Phoebe: Oh hello.	フィービー：あ、こんにちは。
Guy: Oh, it's you. I see you everywhere. I'm Jim, Jim Nelson.	男：あ、また会いましたね。僕は、ジム、ジム・ネルソンです。
Phoebe: Oh Jim, Jim Nelson I'm Phoebe, Phoebe Buffay. We certainly have been seeing a lot of each other lately.	フィービー：あら、ジム、ジム・ネルソンさん。私はフィービー、フィービー・ブッフェです。最近ほんとによく会うわね。

[Scene: Outside Mona's Apartment, Ross is knocking on the door.]	[モナのアパートの外。ロスはドアをノック。]
Ross: Mona? (There's no answer, so he starts to leave but remembers where her extra key is. He reaches atop a hall light just outside her door and grabs the key. He looks at in triumph as the pain from it being hot moves along his nervous system to his brain, and when it arrives his brain orders his hand to drop the hot key and his mouth to squeal in pain. After dropping the key he pulls his shirtsleeve over his hand and uses the key to open the door and enter Mona's apartment.) Okay, if I were a salmon shirt, where would I be? (He hears a key in the door and as it opens he dives behind the couch.)	ロス：モナ？　（返事がない。そのあめ去ろうとするが、カギの隠し場所を思い出す。電灯の上に手を伸ばし、カギを手に取る。嬉しそうにカギを見つめるが、電灯の上に置かれていたためカギがあったので熱くて、カギを落とす。袖を使ってカギを拾い、ガギを開け、中に入る。）　さて、僕がサーモンシャツならどこに行くかな？　（外でカギの音がしたため、ソファーの後ろにヘッドスライディングして隠れる。）
Mona: (entering, with her date) I am so sorry I spilled wine all over your shirt.	モナ：（デート相手と入室）　シャツにワインかけちゃってほんとにごめんね。
Mona's Date: Oh, it's okay.	デート相手：気にするなよ。
Mona: No, it's still wet. Y'know what? Let me get it out before it sets. Ooh, I have something you can wear. Here. (Hands him Ross's shirt.)	モナ：でもまだ濡れてるじゃない。染みがつく前に落とすわ。あ、代わりの服があるわ。はい。　（ロスのシャツを渡す）

Phoebe: Okay. Umm look, you're coming on a little strong. But I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, because it seems the universe really wants to be together. So, why don't we just start over okay? And you can just tell me about yourself.	フィービー：あの、ちょっとあなた迫りすぎよ。でも世界が私たちを結びつけたいみたいだから、また初めからやりなおしましょ。あなたのことをちょっと教えて。
Jim: (back to a normal tone) All right.	ジム：（普通のトーンに戻る）　うん。

Phoebe: All right. (Gets up and walks out.)	フィービー：もういいわよ。　（立ち上がり、帰る。）
[Scene: Monica and Chandler's, Monica, Chandler, and now Rachel are organizing CDs.]	[モニカとチャンドラーのアパート。モニカ、チャンドラー、レイチェルがCDを整理している。]
Chandler: (singing) The sun'll come out…tomorrow! Bet…your bottom dollar that tomorrow… (The girls start laughing, and in a deep voice) …there'll be sun.	チャンドラー：（歌う）　太陽が昇るよぉ、明日が来るんだ！　君の全財産も、明日は…　（レイチェルとモニカが笑い出す。そのため低い声で）　太陽が昇るぜ！
Joey: (entering) Hey!	ジョーイ：（入室）　おっす！
Rachel: Hey! Oh Joey, honey listen, thank you for talking to my yesterday about that thing with my boss. That really meant a lot.	レイチェル：おっす！　あ、ジョーイ、職場の悩み聞いてくれてほんとありがとね。ほんと助かったわ。
Joey: Not a problem. Oh, and just so you know, that guy's not going to be bothering you about that baby thing anymore.	ジョーイ：あぁ、気にするな。それにな、あいつはもう君の赤ちゃんを買うなんていわないぜ。
Rachel: (worried) What?	レイチェル：（心配）　え？
Joey: Let's just say I took care of it.	ジョーイ：俺が解決しといたぜ。
Rachel: Whoa-whoa-whoa, let's say more!	レイチェル：え、か、か、解決？
Joey: Don't worry! Don't worry. I just told him, very nicely, "You don't go buying people's babies, so back off!!"	ジョーイ：心配するな！　やさーーしく言ってやったんだよ。　"人の赤ちゃんなんて買うもんじゃないぜ！　わかったな！"ってね。
Rachel: What?!	レイチェル：え！？
Chandler and Monica: What?!	チャンドラーとモニカ：え！？
Rachel: No! No, no-no-no Joey he doesn't want to buy my baby! I made that up!	レイチェル：違う！　ジョーイ、あの人は赤ちゃんを買おうとなんかしてないわよ！　私の作り話よ！
Joey: What?! Why?!	ジョーイ：え！？　何でだよ！？
Rachel: So that we would have something to talk about! So it wouldn't be awkward!	レイチェル：何か話題を作りたかったのよ！　そうすれば話せるでしょ！
Joey: And you couldn't think of anything else?!	ジョーイ：ほかに何も思いつかなかったのか！？
Monica: You said your boss wants to buy your baby?!	モニカ：あんた上司が赤ちゃん買いたいって言ったって言ったの！？
Rachel: (To Joey) I can't believe that you yelled at my boss! I'm-I'm gonna lose my job! What am I going to do?!	レイチェル：（ジョーイに）　私の上司にそんなこと言ったなんて信じられない！　私首だわ！　どうすりゃいいのよ！？
Chandler: You can always sell your baby.	チャンドラー：赤ちゃん売れば？
Rachel: Oh Joey, I can't believe you brought my boss into this! I'm gonna get fired!	レイチェル：ジョーイ、何でそんなことするのよ！　首になっちゃうじゃない！
Joey: You lied to me!	ジョーイ：そっちがうそついたんだろ！
Rachel: Well, she told me too! (Points to Monica and Joey glares at her.)	レイチェル：モニカがそうしろって言ったのよ！　（モニカを指差す。ジョーイはモニカをにらむ）
Monica: Chandler has two copies of Annie!	モニカ：チャンドラーはアニーのCD2つも持ってるのよ！
[Scene: Mona's Apartment, she and her date are making out as Ross flips through a magazine while lying behind the couch and sees something that he likes. Meanwhile, Mona's date takes off Ross's shirt and Mona throws it on the floor. While they start making out again, Ross tries to pull the rug the shirt is on over to him, but while he does that he moves the coffee table and it bumps into the couch.]	[モナのアパート。モナとデート相手がいちゃついている。ロスはソファーの後ろに隠れながら雑誌を呼んでいる。何か気に入るものが見つかった模様。デート相手がロスのシャツを脱ぎ、モナがそれを床に投げ捨てる。2人はまたいちゃつきだす。シャツは敷物の上に置かれており、ロスは敷物を引っ張り、シャツを取ろうとする。しかし敷物の上のテーブルも動いてしまい、テーブルがソファーにぶつかってしまう。]
Mona: (seeing Ross) Oh my God! Ross!!!	モナ：（ロスに気づく）　ヤだ！　ロス！！
Ross: Hello!!	ロス：どーーーも！！
Mona: Ross, what are you doing?!	モナ：ロス、何してるのよ！？
Ross: Not touching myself if that makes anyone less uncomfortable.	ロス：一応言っとくけど、僕はエッチしてないからね。
[Scene: Mr. Zelner's Office, Rachel is knocking on the door.]	[ゼルナーのオフィス。レイチェルがドアをノック。]
Rachel: Morning. You wanted to see me?	レイチェル：おはようございます。私に御用とのことですが。
Mr. Zelner: Please, come in. Have a seat. (She does so.)	ゼルナー：あぁ。座りたまえ。　（レイチェルが座る）
Rachel: Okay look Mr. Zelner…	レイチェル：あの、ゼルナーさん…
Mr. Zelner: Oh I think it's best that I speak first.	ゼルナー：私から話したほうがいいと思うんだがね。
Rachel: Yeah. (Motions for him to continue.)	レイチェル：はい。　（どうぞとジェスチャー）
Mr. Zelner: I've asked Lee from human resources to be here as a witness to our conversation.	ゼルナー：人事のリーにこの会話の目撃者としてここに来てもらった。
Rachel: Oh God.	レイチェル：そうですか。
Mr. Zelner: If I in any way implied that I wanted to buy your baby…I am sorry. Okay? Last week when I asked you when your due date was uh, I certainly did not mean that I felt that I was due your baby. Yeah, I want to be very clear that I understand that its your baby, and it is not mine to purchase.	ゼルナー：万が一、私が何か君の赤ちゃんを買うというようなことを言ったのなら…、申し訳ない。先週、君に出産はいつかと聞いたのは、もちろん君の赤ちゃんを買いたいという意味ではない。ここのところは分かっていただきたい。私はあなたの赤ちゃんだと言うことを理解している。私が購入できるものだとは思っていない。
Rachel: Well, as long as we are clear about that. (Exits smugly.)	レイチェル：そうですか。それなら結構です。　（満足そうに出て行く）
[Scene: A Street, Phoebe and Monica are walking down it.]	[通り。フィービーとモニカが歩いている。]
Phoebe: Oh there it is.	フィービー：あ、あった。
Monica: That's not your regular dry cleaners.	モニカ：いつものクリーニング屋じゃないじゃない。
Phoebe: I know, but that creep that I went on that date with goes to there so I have to find a new one. I also have to find a new video store, a new bank, a new adult bookstore, a new grocery store…	フィービー：そうなのよ。この前デートした気持ち悪い男があそこ使ってるんだもん。だから店変えたの。レンタルビデオ屋も、銀行も、アダルトブックストアも、食料品店も…
Monica: What?!	モニカ：え？！
Phoebe: A new grocery store. The universe said I was going to meet a nice guy and that's what they gave me? (Looks up) When I get up there I'm going to kick some ass.	フィービー：食料品店よ。私がいい男に会うって言っといて、あんなヤローをよこしやがって。　（天を見る）　私が行ったら、ぶん殴ってやるからね！
Monica: Don't worry Phoebe, you're gonna meet someone. If I can meet a great guy, so can you.	モニカ：大丈夫よフィービー。きっといい人に会えるって。私だって会えるんだから、あなたも会えるわよ。
Phoebe: Yeah, we both can. And we both will.	フィービー：そうよ。きっと会えるわ。2人ともね。
(They enter the dry cleaners.)	2人はクリーニング屋へ入る。
Phoebe: Oh, you didn't have to come in with me.	フィービー：あら、別に中にまで一緒に来なくてもいいのよ。
Monica: Are you kidding? This is where they get out stains! Okay? This is like Disneyland for me. I'm-I'm gonna be over here watching the dance of the clean shirts. (She points to and walks over to the electric clothes rack they have.)	モニカ：冗談でしょ？　ここは染みを落とすととこなのよ！　私にとってはディズニーランドみたいなもんよ。キレイなシャツのダンスを見てるわ。　（クリーニングのシャツを掛ける器具の方へ歩いていく）
Phoebe: Okay.	フィービー：うん。
(A guy enters that looks suspiciously like Alec Baldwin from The Hunt for Red October, Pearl Harbor, and Beetlejuice.)	男が入室
Guy: (To Phoebe) Oh, excuse me! I think you dropped s…(looks at Phoebe.) Wow!	男：（フィービーに）　あ、すいません！　落としましたよ…　（フィービーを見る）　うわぁお！
Phoebe: What?	フィービー：どうしたの？
Guy: I'm sorry, it's just that you're so incredibly beautiful.	男：すいません。あなたが余りに美しいもので。
Phoebe: Oh yeah well, I'm sorry about that too, but what are you going to do?	フィービー：あら、こちらこそごめんなさい。でもどうするの？
Guy: I hope you don't think I'm crazy but I feel like I was meant to pick this up, do you believe in that kind of thing?	男：変なやつだと思うかもしれませんが、僕はこれを拾う運命だったような気がするんだ。運命って信じるタイプ？
Phoebe: A little. (She turns around and looks up.) (To the universe) Now you're talking.	フィービー：ちょっとね。　（振り返り上を見る）　（天国のほうへ）　あら、こういうことね。
Guy: Would you like to go out and have a cup of coffee?	男：お茶でもしませんか？
Phoebe: I-I-I'd love to. Let me just tell my friend.	フィービー：はい、喜んで。ちょっと友達に伝えてくるね。
Monica: (to the clerk) Ooh, an ink stain! Hey, can I watch how you get this out?	モニカ：（店員に）　あら、インクの染みね！　落とすことこ見てていい？
Phoebe: (looking around) She must've left.	フィービー：（見回す）　もう帰ったみたいね。
[Scene: Monica and Chandler's, Chandler is watching Joey pace nervously as Rachel enters.]	[モニカとチャンドラーのアパート。チャンドラーがジョーイがナーバスにうろうろしているのを見ている。レイチェルが入室。]
Rachel: Hi.	レイチェル：おす。
Joey: So? What-what-what happened?	ジョーイ：で、どうだった？
Rachel: It's all gonna be okay. They're just so happy that I'm not suing them that they gave me one extra month paid maternity leave. So long as I understand that the money should not construed as a down payment on this or any other child I should bear.	レイチェル：大丈夫よ。私が訴えないって言ったら、喜んでたわ。しかも有給妊娠休暇が1ヶ月伸びたのよ。この有給は埋め合わせとか、次の子供のためってわけじゃないって承諾したからね。
Chandler: Wow, Ralph Lauren is really going out of there way to show they're not in the baby buying business.	チャンドラー：へぇ、ラルフ・ローレンって赤ん坊買収ビジネスやってないのを証明するのに躍起になってるんだな。
Rachel: Chandler, can you give us a minute?	レイチェル：チャンドラー、ちょっと2人にしてくれる？
Chandler: Oh I'm sorry, you're kicking me out of my own living room?	チャンドラー：あの、ここは俺のアパートの居間なんすけど。
Rachel: Yeah.	レイチェル：だから？
Chandler: I'll be in there. (Goes into the bedroom.)	チャンドラー：あっちに行くよ。　（寝室に行く）
Rachel: Joey, I'm really sorry that I lied to you. I was just trying to make things…	レイチェル：ジョーイ、うそついてほんとゴメンね。私はただ…
Joey: I know. I know.	ジョーイ：あぁ。分かってるよ。
Rachel: It kinda worked. I mean y'know, I don't know about you but I haven't thought about our thing since all this.	レイチェル：でもうまくいったじゃん。あなたがどう思ったかわからないけど、あれ以来あのことは考えなくなったわ。
Joey: Hey you're right. Yeah, it's kinda been like us again a little bit.	ジョーイ：あぁ。そうだよな。また元通りの俺たちだよな。
Rachel: Yeah I know! I miss that.	レイチェル：うん。そうよね！　この感じ。

Ross: (on phone) Item J437-A, color: winterberry. (There's a knock on the door as he hangs up the phone. He answers it to Mona.) Hi umm, listen come here, come in. (She does so.) I'm so-so sorry about yesterday. I-I'm really sorry. It's just that I… (He picks up the pink shirt.)	ロス：（電話で）　製品J437-A、色はウインターベリー。　（ノック音。ロスは電話を切り、ドアを開ける。モナがいる。）　やぁ、入って。　（入る）　昨日はほんとにゴメンね。ほんとにゴメン。その…　（ピンクシャツを拾う）
Mona: (interrupting him) Listen Ross, you don't have to apologize. I understand why you were there.	モナ：（割り込む）　いいの、ロス。謝らなくてもいいの。何であなたがうちに来たか知ってるわ。
Ross: You do?	ロス：そうなの？
Mona: Yeah, you still have feelings for me. And-and to be honest, I-I still have feelings for you. And I wish that we can work it out Ross, but we can't. It's too complicated with you and Rachel and the baby, I-I just… It just wasn't meant to be.	モナ：うん。まだ私のことが好きなのよ。正直に言うと、私もまだあなたのこと好きよ。私たちがまだ結ばれてたらいいと思うわ。でもだめなのよ。あなたとレイチェルの関係は複雑すぎて…。これでいいんだと思うわ…
